What to Include When a Script Doesn’t Work
Most PowerShell problems depend on the version, the operating system and the exact error text. With these four details, a problem can usually be reproduced and fixed without back-and-forth emails.
- The tutorial linkCopy the address of the page you were following.
- The full error messagePaste the red text exactly as PowerShell shows it, not a summary.
- Your PowerShell versionRun the command below. 5.1 is Windows PowerShell, 7.x is PowerShell 7.
- Your operating systemFor example Windows 11, Windows Server 2022 or macOS.
